3D-Rundgang

In his exhibition “Tautologies,” Paul Thuile engages, among other things, with architectural spaces in Vienna, continuing a central trajectory within his artistic practice: the exploration of space through drawing and the interplay between perception, memory, and transience.

For his new works, Thuile drew in the Villa Beer, an outstanding example of Viennese modernist architecture, as well as in a privately inhabited residence in Vienna’s 19th district designed by Josef Hoffmann. Moving through these architectural spaces almost like a photographer, Paul Thuile uses pencil and paper to capture subjective perceptions, sightlines, and spatial constellations. The resulting sequence of views is less a documentary record of the buildings than a personal exploration of their architecture.
